Everyone knows that I am an absolute Hollywood (and Hollywood actresses!) super fan. The lights, camera and action type of life is one that just seems so cool (and also so distant from my normal life). Movies, TV Shows, all the glitz and the glam of the entertainment world is something that a lot aspire to. What’s super inspiring for me, is knowing that some of those mega stars are actually from (or have roots in) our hood over here in the Middle East. I did a bit of digging and found out that these top 10 Hollywood celebs actually all come from Arab descent.
Did you know that one of our favorite Desperate Housewives was actually from our hood? Actress Teri Hatcher was born in Cali but has a Syrian maternal Grandfather. She also has Irish, English and Czech ancestry running through her blood!

This Hollywood MEGA STAR who has stared in over 50 movies – but is most known for her hit performance in Frida – is also part arab (her name also kind of gives it away!) Salma Hayak was born Mexico, her mum is Mexican and her dad is Lebanese.
Starring in one of the most HILARIOUS TV shows out there (and also one of my personal FAVES) Arrested Development’s’ Ali Shawkat is another one who makes the list. Alia was born in sunny Cali, but her dad is Iraqi from Baghdad. Her mum is part Irish, Italian and Norwegian – WOW what a mix!

Her hips don’t lie – and they are definitely that of an Arab chick! Shakira, who is more known as a SUPER STAR singer, has also appeared in some Hollywood hits. We can hear this superstar’s voice in bangers like Zootopia, 27 Dresses, and Love in the Time of Cholera. Shakira was born in Colombia, and is of Lebanese, Spanish and Italian descent.

Hollywood Queen Zoe Saldana has appeared in movie after movie that we just LOVE! Avatar, Star Trek, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy – just to name a few. Zoe was born in New Jersey, while her dad was from Dominican and her mum Puerto Rican – Zoe is said to also have Lebanese and Haitian roots.

This Oscar nominated beauty is another one for the list. Starring in over 80 Hollywood movies, TV shows and mini series, but most known for her role in Capote, Being John Malkovich, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Get Out. Catherine was born in Miami, but her mum is originally Lebanese, and her dad is a wonderful mix of English, Scottish and German.
This OG is best known as the star of one of Hollywood’s Classics from the 60’s “That Girl.” Her long time career in Hollywood has Marlo appear in some of our absolute FAVE tv shows – Friends (as Rachel’s mom), Roseanne, Ugly Betty, Ally McBeal, Frasier, and That Girl (just to name a few). Marlo was born in Michigan but comes from Lebanese and Italian descent.

Jenna Dewan, was married to Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum. The couple have a beautiful daughter Everly, but have unfortunately split – and now are the best co parents. This babe was born in Connecticut, her dad is half Syrian Lebanese with Polish descent, and her mum is German and English.
One of the original American Idol judges, and also Hollywood mega star Paula Abdul is a staple in the Entertainment world. Also known for appearing in The Running Man, Jerry Maguire, American Beauty – to name a few – this actress turned TV judge has a bit of Arab running through her. Paula grew up in Cali, but her dad is from Syria and mum from Canada.

Star of 90’s hit sitcom Just Shoot Me, Wendie was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1999 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her hilarious take on the character Nina Van Horn. Wendie has started in over 150 titles for both movies and TV series throughout her long career in Hollywood. She was born in New York, but her grandfather was Egyptian.
