Quick Fix: 30 Minute Meals

If you’re pressed on time, but still want a delicious home cooked meal, we have some tasty options to share! Even those of us who love to cook don’t always want to spend hours in the kitchen. But, quick food doesn’t have to mean less tasty food. In an age when time seems more a precious commodity than ever, necessity has become the mother of invention. People have found some rather ingenious ways to impart “all day cooking” taste into something that can be whipped up in a flash. Next time you feel yourself in a time crunch, but wanna sate those hunger pangs with something scrumptious, try these 30 minute bad boys out!

Mini Shawarma Calzones

This incredibly tasty, and ridiculously easy, recipe will have you stuffing your face in just under 30 minutes.  Shawarma and pizza collide to make for one yummy meal. These would make a perfect main course, or could even be used as a fabulous appetizer idea. Better yet, it’s food you can totally eat with your hands. So, if you have guests over, you can make the rounds all while chowing down. It utilizes pre-made pizza dough and a shawarma spice packet to save you a ton of time. One, or several, dipping sauces would really bring this dish to the next level.

One-Pot Creamy Chicken and Rice Casserole

We love a good one pot dish. A quick meal ready in 30 minutes with minimal clean up? Yes, please. This one is supremely comforting and just plain yummy. Long grain rice is mixed with cheese, chicken, peas, and spices to make for a creamy and satisfying main dish. Although the recipe already feeds 4-6 hungry diners, you could very easily double the recipe and turn it into something to feed a real crowd. It’s also a very wallet friendly recipe. If you’d like to make it even more so, opt for chicken thighs over breast meat. Sprinkling a little more cheese over the top as you serve would make for a lovely presentation as well. Who turns down more cheese?

Indian Mustard Fish

This traditional Indian 30 minute gem is created using salmon or cod, and is vegetarian friendly. It’s also got a bit of a kick, so if you like your food a little on the spicy side, you’re in luck. Another plus: it’s low on calories and a perfect option for a nice light meal if you’re not wanting anything too heavy. Pairing this dish with some rice, or even a simple salad, would make for one quick and tasty dinner any night of the week.

Mushroom and Summer Squash Frittata

Frittatas are a fabulous food, not only because you can whip them up in a snap, but because they’re so versatile. You can pretty much throw whatever veggies you might be craving into them and the end result is going to be incredibly flavorful. Not to mention, you won’t be spending forever preparing it. If you wish to add a meat option, you could always fry  up some turkey bacon or cook up some sausages and still make it well under the 30 minute mark. To bring even more pop to your frittata, consider making a quick tomato salad to top it with.
