Is anyone else loving the fact that eyebrows are all the rage? I’m so grateful I wasn’t a teenager in the 90s because I think my brows would honestly hate me by now. Big thanks to Mum for keeping me on the straight (AKA arched) and not-so-narrow.
If you’re anything like me, I avoid threading until it is absolutely mandatory because honestly, it hurts. I’m sure whoever coined the term beauty is pain probably did it as a direct result of threading.
Before we jump into my recommended salons, let’s take a trip down memory lane. I remember the very first time my friend convinced me to try threading over waxing. She told me all about how threading is better for you and your skin. It’s faster and the results last much longer. I mean my head immediately went to hello miracle hair removal, where have you been all my life?! AND THEN I TRIED IT. Whoever came up with this technique has a lot to answer for. I’m pretty sure the poor beautician who took me on my first threading journey wanted to murder me due to my constant squirming and wiggling (and let’s be real, watering eyes/tears streaming down my face like a little baby).
Threading is like childbirth. Big statement I know, but bear with me. At the time it’s the worst thing in the world, but afterward, the results are so amazing your psychotic brain suppresses any memory of the pain endured. Flashforward 4-8 weeks later and you find yourself back in the hot seat suddenly remembering why you hate but LOVE it so much.

I like this place because after you’ve had your face threaded you can treat yourself to a massage, manicure, pedicure or facial. I feel like it’s the least you can do for your body given the torture you’ve just put it through.

This used to be my local and honestly the place is enormous. It’s certainly not as luxe as some of the others on this list but they do a great job and is super handy if you live in the Umm Suqeim area. They have henna stations, hair, nail, and beauty therapy treatments also available. Treat yo self.

This is my favorite hair salon in all of Dubai. If it’s good enough for Jen Atkin, it’s good enough for me. The salon also has a mani-pedi section so why not treat yourself to a little pampering while you sit back and have your face harassed by some cotton thread.
